Your Property Guide, Not Just Your Surveyor
I’m not here to bamboozle you with technical jargon or overwhelm you with 50-page reports you’ll never understand. I’m here to help you make one of the biggest decisions of your life with confidence.
My Story
I’ve been on both sides of the property fence. I’ve worked as an estate agent, seeing how properties are marketed and sold. I’ve bought and sold multiple properties myself, experiencing the stress and uncertainty firsthand. And for years now, I’ve been a chartered surveyor, getting under the skin of properties and understanding what really matters.
That combination of experiences gives me something most surveyors don’t have - I understand the entire property buying journey, not just the survey bit.
I know what it feels like to fall in love with a property and then worry whether you’re making the right decision. I know the panic of getting a survey report and not understanding what half of it means. I know the frustration of asking professionals questions and getting answers that sound like they’re speaking a different language.
That’s why I do things differently.
Why I Focus on First-Time Buyers
Here’s the truth: first-time buyers get the rawest deal in property.
You’re expected to navigate a complex, expensive, stressful process with little guidance. Estate agents are focused on selling. Mortgage brokers are focused on lending. Solicitors are focused on the legal stuff. Everyone’s doing their job, but nobody’s looking out for YOU - the person actually buying the home.
And when it comes to surveys? Most surveyors hand over a technical report and disappear. You’re left trying to decode phrases like “significant structural movement” or “remedial works advisable” while panicking about whether you’re about to buy a money pit.
I keep seeing the same thing happen: first-time buyers either don’t get a survey at all (terrifying), or they get one but don’t understand it properly, or they book it at completely the wrong time in the process.
After years of hearing “I wish I’d known this before” and “why didn’t anyone tell me?”, I decided to change how I work.
How I’m Different
I Speak Human
No jargon. No technical terms without explanation. I use real-world examples and analogies that actually make sense. Think of me as the person who translates “surveyor-speak” into plain English.
I Draw on Real Experience
Every piece of advice I give comes from actually doing this - hundreds of surveys, multiple property purchases of my own, years in the industry seeing what works and what doesn’t. This isn’t theory from a textbook; it’s practical knowledge from the front lines.
I’m Here to Educate, Not Just Inspect
A survey report shouldn’t be the end of our relationship - it should be the beginning of you understanding your property properly. I’ll walk you through what I found, why it matters, and what you should do about it. You’ll finish our conversation knowing exactly what you’re dealing with.
I Actually Care About the Outcome
This might sound obvious, but I genuinely want you to make a good decision. Whether that means buying the property, negotiating a better price, or walking away entirely - my job is to give you the information you need to choose wisely, not to push you in any particular direction.
What My Clients Say
The reviews that mean the most to me are the ones from first-time buyers who say things like:
*“Finally, someone who explained things in a way I could understand”*
*“I felt like I had someone in my corner for the first time in the whole buying process”*
*“The survey report was thorough, but more importantly, the follow-up call made everything crystal clear”*
That’s the service I aim to provide every single time.
My Qualifications & Experience
Let’s get the boring but important stuff out of the way:
- Property professional with 30 years experience
- Former Estate Agent - I know how the other side works
- Multiple property purchases personally - I’ve been where you are
- Hundreds of surveys completed** across all property types
- Member of RICS
- Fully insured** and regulated
But honestly? The qualification that matters most is this: I remember what it’s like to be overwhelmed by the property buying process, and I’m committed to making sure you don’t feel that way.
Beyond the Survey: First-Time Buyer Education
I realized that most first-time buyers need help long before they book a survey. They need to understand:
- When to even GET a survey
- What type of survey they need
- What to look for when viewing properties
- Which issues are deal-breakers and which are normal
- How to navigate the entire buying process without panic
That’s why I’ve created educational resources, guides, and content specifically for first-time buyers. Because an informed buyer makes better decisions, asks better questions, and ultimately ends up happier with their purchase.
If you’re a first-time buyer feeling overwhelmed, confused, or just want to make sure you’re doing this right - you’re in the right place.
Let’s Work Together
Whether you need a survey, have questions about a property you’re considering, or just want some straight-talking advice about the buying process, I’m here to help.
I don’t bite, I don’t judge, and I definitely don’t use unnecessary jargon.
